“The restaurant building in Szepezd is actually not based on my preferred design version. I had another restaurant design assignment at Lake Balaton at the time, in Balatonfüred. It should be noted that I was young and a novice architect at the time. So, when seeing the first version, the jury who assessed my designs in Füred simply told me to get the hell out of there and come back with a better version. They kept me drawing new and new versions until this one came out. These designs are failures. Still, when the buildings were completed, they turned out to be better structures compared to other buildings of the era, but I cannot be happily proud of them …”
