“…What are you doing ‘uncle’ Imre?…” – family and friends would ask Imre Makovecz whenever they saw him lost in making a drawing or carving outside of the design office. “I’m playing” – he answered. The fruit of such “playing” includes countless beautiful, funny, entertaining or thought provoking drawings, tiny objects and sometimes designs that subsequently were turned into reality by craftsmen, such as this bird drinking-trough and well.
